MEMBERSHIP AT KAVOD
WHY MEMBERSHIP?
Choosing to become a member at Kavod is a powerful step of support and affirmation for Kavod’s work towards building a more liberated Boston. For over a decade, our membership model has supported our community in building power, staying connected and rooting in our collective values.
Kavod’s membership model is rooted in a long Jewish history of communal projects and collective ownership, dating back to the Biblical story of the construction of the Mishkan. In the Torah, the Israelites raised their resources through both a “half-shekel” tax on every adult member of the community, and through generous additional offerings given by each Israelite according to their means and talents. From this learning, we help resource our own community through a structure of “Half Shekel” and “Nediv Lev — Gift of the Heart” giving.
